The Pug is fired up about bringing the Revolutionary War to the 5th grade! But first, we need some ground rules! We will be using the computer a lot in 5th grade and honestly, you will be using it and many different types of digital technology for years to come. The pug notices that kids usually don't think about how permanent and far reaching their "digital footprint" is. "What is a digital footprint?!" (Hint, it is not your foot on a computer!)
Your digital footprint, be it two feet or four is what you leave behind in the digital world. Your picture, your address, your favorite breed of dog. People can find out WAAAAY to much about you from cyber space if you aren't careful so before we battle the British for independence, we need to make sure you know how to be safe online!!
First, go to this site. If you can do it with an adult, that would be awesome! Work through the videos and answer the questions. Write a short paragraph about what you learned on each subject. Like, "I had no idea copying and pasting information off a website was wrong! Now I know how to cite properly. Thanks Pug!!" (Although you surely will write a real and better supported paragraph!)

Then, for a super awesome challenge, go to www.digitalpassport.org You will need an adult to help you register. This has fun games (you will have no idea you are learning!) Work through all the modules
and earn your passport. Bring your passport back to school and the pug will award you royally! Good luck and be safe!!!
